In this scheduled tour you will bike during a week across the catalan Pyrenees with other people. There will be a guide and a support van during all the route. You will climb the most important climbs of this part of the Pyrenees. You will start in the middle of High Pyrenees, in Vielha and finish in Cadaqués, the magical village, and the most eastern point of Catalonia.
Day 1:Saturday Arrival in Vielha Overnight: Vielha, Hotel *** Settle down in the hotel in Vielha city, surrounded by mountains Day 2:Sunday Vielha-Sort Distance: Overnight: Sort, Hotel *** We will leave Occitania, with its language, history and villages like Arties and Salardú. Then, we will climb El Port de la Bonaigua (2072 m) and enter to El Pallars Sobirà, another catalan County. Descending to Sort, its capital, we will have spectacular views and high mountain landscapes as the Àneu valley with the waterfalls, the animals and the colours. Sort is a nice town close to Noguera Pallaresa river. Day 3: Monday Sort-Andorra la Vella Distance: 71 km Overnight: Andorra la Vella, Hotel *** Just after leaving Sort we will start to climb about 20 km to reach Port del Canto (1721 m) with just one village. Just forest, mountains and silence. Same feelings descending to La Seu d’Urgell, an ancient important city in the Pyrenees. There it took place the competition of Slalom Canoeing in the Barcelona ‘92 Olympic Games. From there, we will go north to enter Andorra, a small state in the heart of Pyrenees. We will cross the border and enter to a different country: banks, sky station, motorbikes, and big, nice and spectacular mountains, rivers and villages. Day 4: Tuesday Andorra La Vella- Puigcerdà Distance: 71 km Overnight: Puigcerdà, Hotel *** Leaving Andorra la Vella, the capital and main city of this small state we will start to rise. First slowly, then, really strong pendants to reach the highest road path in the Pyrenees: El Port d’Envalira (2409 m) After that, we will bike in the other side of the Pyrenees, the north side. We will leave Andorra and enter to France. And we will descend to Puigcerdà. In this quiet, mountainous road, you will feel the sensation to be in the middle of the nature: just few small villages and lots of animals, rivers, mountains… before reaching the capital of La Cerdanya county: Puigcerdà Day 5: Wednesday Puigcerdà-Joanetes Distance: 114 km Overnight: Joanetes, Hotel *** We will depart from Puigcerdà towards Ripoll, the cradle of Catalonia, with its millenary monastery where lies the founder of Catalonia. But before reaching Ripoll, we will have to climb the Collada de Toses (1800 m). This day will be the last of high mountain views and villages. From Ripoll to the sea the landscape will change to more deep forest and not so high mountains. But between Ripoll and Joanetes, we will climb the Coll the Capsacosta (800 m). Then, we will enter the La Garrotxa county and rest in Joanetes. Just 5 km to Joanetes there is the possibility to climb at the top of Montsacopa volcano (inside the city of olot) where there are very nice views. Day 6: Thursday Joanetes-Cadaqués Distance: 119 km Overnight: Cadaqués, Hotel *** The last day of the tour will be an easy ride without any hard climb. We will bike to Besalú, an ancient important city and now famous for its bridge and medieval heritage. Then, we will go around the Banyoles lake to the Empordà, which it will be the last catalan county we will visit. We will cross the natural park of the Aiguamolls de l’Empordà and after admiring the Roses Bay we will climb the last difficulty of the trip to reach Cadaqués, the most eastern village of Catalonia, where the Pyrenees finishes in the Mediterranean!
